Can you fly faster than a Rainbow Lorikeet?
Run like a Emu?
Out-waddle a Wombat?
Here’s your opportunity! Introducing our first ZOO RUN for Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Yes, that’s right, a ZOO RUN is a fun run where you’ll run through Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
If you are a serious athlete – take on the 5 kilometre challenge! This course is NOT for the faint hearted or unfit! We have some very Steep Hills, narrow windy bush track with awesome obstacles and challenges for the single runner.
Not so serious? No worries, how about a 2 kilometre family fun run / walk. You can even dress-up if you are that way inclined! We’ll even have a prize for best-dressed entrant / team!
This unique event will take place on Sunday 23rd November 2014, starting at 6:30am and finishing by 8:00am. Yes – you’ll be in there before the crowds, so the zoo will be nice and quiet (just you and a couple of hundred other competitors!!!)
Of course, the ZOO RUN will be a fundraiser for the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital so you will be getting sweaty for a good cause!
We’ll need sponsors and supporters to get this organised, so please give us a call if you want to help this awesome event. We’ll also need some volunteers!
You will need to go on line and register for the ZOO RUN – we will use Register Now so please see the link below
Prices are only $50 per participant for the 5 km run, or $40 per participant for the 2 km family fun run / walk.
Riding in a pram or stroller is not permitted on the 5km bush track. If you are taking bub out to enjoy the beauty of Currumbin please join in on the 2km paved path way. There might still be a few bumps and hills along the way, so be ready for it! Children aged 3 and under are also FREE!!!

Hello Amanda
Thanks for getting in touch with me.
The ZOO RUN is a happening at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday the 23rd of November 2014
We will be there from 6am and the first run (5km in waves from fastest to slowest) will start at 6.30 sharp. Then the 2km run/walk will commence about after all the 5km runners have left.
The cost for the ZOO RUN is
• $50 for the 5km
• $40 for the 2km run/walk
As the 5km run is in bushland and some minor obstacles (such as bridges etc) are involved sadly only runners can do this event. No wheel chair access or prams.
The 2km run has wheelchair and pram access and is open to anyone.
This event is put on by Tegan (Me!) Lather with the help of her parents and after we have paid all the bills for the event, t-shirts, insurance etc we will give the rest of the funds raised to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.
In my last ZOO RUN at Australia Zoo we had 500 runners, just like Currumbin ZOO RUN, and raised $20,000!!! for the wildlife hospital, so I am hoping to sell all the spots.
For the cost of your entry you will receive
• Free T-Shirt
• Free Reusable Water bottle
• Free Entry into Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the day of the ZOO RUN
• Any friends and family that wish to join you at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the day of the ZOO RUN at Mates Rates – only $20 each! That is a huge saving
• Other freebies on the day and in the running to win Awesome Prizes!
To register for the event please go to http://www.zoorun.com.au/currumbin/register-now/
I hope we will see you there on the day!

Hi Kathy
Where do runners meet , just at the Sanctuary entry? I have 3 students running representing our school but they seem unclear as to the finer details, they also said the fundraiser sheet did not come through to them when they registered (they are doing the 2km run). So, if possible, could you forward to my email and I can pass it onto them.
Kind regards
Selena
Hello Selena
Thank you for posting the comment.
We are very lucky as Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary are opening up their side gate to allow all the runners, their family and friends inside the grassed area behind their function rooms. This is called The Village Green area – This is also the area where the Friday night Markets are held.
You will see a volunteer outside the front entrance and they will direct the people in the side entrance into the Village Green area to collect their shirts, bibs and water bottles.
The runners will also receive a Red arm band that allows them FREE entry into the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary after the ZOO RUN. If you have friends and family they will ask the Runners how many White bands they will need to get the in at the discounted rate of just $20 per person for the day of the ZOO RUN.
You can meet your students within the area, where their will be volunteers and other members of the public (they can take in their family and friends) or you can arrange to meet them in the car park across the street.
The runners and walkers will be in this area until they are called into the area where the lorikeet bird feeding is done for a quick warm up and then the run will go in waves..
• Lorikeet leaving at 6.30am
• Emu at 6.40am
• Wombats at 6.45am
• Once the 5km runners have returned we will then let go the 2km runners at 7am – 7.15am.
There will be people all along the track making sure now one goes the wrong way.
We will all return in time for the Bird feeding at 8.30am
After the bird feeding we will ask all the runners to return to the Village Green area for the prizes and to collect their free sunscreen etc
To join in on the fun of a Everyday Hero account please ask the runners to log onto http://www.everydayhero.com.au/event/currumbin2014 and create their own accounts.
We have a fantastic holiday for the highest fundraiser at Culgoa Resort Noosa as well as the Top 5 will receive prizes for being fundraising heroes! http://www.zoorun.com.au/become-a-fundraising-champion/
I hope this has been some help to you.
We will work on getting the information out to the runners.
Thank you
The ZOO RUN crew.
