Wow well the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors FUNdraiser Car Rally that was held on Sunday the 26th of May was show tonight on Our Town on channel 44 on Briz 31.  The presenters look like they had as much fun as the rest of the contestants.

Fantastic prizes, from Family holidays at Seaview with family passes at Big Kart Track, Aussie World and Australia Zoo all up for grabs.  There were over $10,000.00 worth of prizes to be won on the day!  100% of the profits were donated to Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital with the day making over $12,000.00 all up!

This is a fantastic fun day for family and friends.  Only $125 per car and a great day out for EVERYONE!  As the presenters said on Our Town, you do more fun in one day at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors FUNdraiser than you do all year!tegan with cheque

Philanthropist…Philanthropist…Philanthropist…

I have been practising this tricky word for the past couple of weeks! I can now finally pronounce it (so can Mum!).

Why practice saying philanthropist?

Because the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors nominated me for an award – the Junior Philanthropist of the Year 2013.

This award is very prestigious as it is from the Queensland Community Fund as part of Philanthropy Week. QCF supports a pile of charities in Queensland with a huge pile of money carefully invested and the profits are donated to their charities each year! Really cool concept as it provides ongoing income for over 185 charities, including Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland, National Parks Association of Qld, Animal Welfare League and RSPCA!

We had a wonderful luncheon at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane with Mum, Dad and a great guest, all dressed up with a new outfit, makeup and a new hair style! Then to top it off, I won the award!

Yes, I am now the Junior Philanthropist of the Year 2013. How cool is that?!? Even got a cool trophy (very shiny) and certificate (also shiny!)

They even showed a lovely message from Lauren from Australia Zoo! Thanks Lauren!

Thanks QCF and all the wonderful people involved. Very inspiring!

Woo Hoo we raised over $12,000.00!

Wow what a huge day!

I am still getting over it. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors FUNdraiser Car Rally 2013

I have just jumped on to tell everyone involved – All the Sponsors, the contestants, the media, the wonderful businesses and people that donated all the prizes and YOU, yes YOU, thank you for coming on my journey …..the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors FUNdraiser Car Rally that was held on Sunday the 26th of May 2013.

We all did an amazing job!  We managed to raise over $12,000 that went straight to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

So I am still amazed at how much fun it was and how since the 10th of September 2011 my family and I have managed to raise over $42,000.00 for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.  If anyone had asked me two years ago if I would be able to put on fun events and raise this much money, I would have laughed at you and said “No Way!”  But look at me now!

I have had so much fun in the past two years.  I have met some amazing people, some famous, but mostly the unsung heroes that are the hardworking carers that donate so much of their time and energy to saving our wildlife.  I am loving life.  I hope you will consider staying with me on my journey to raise over $100,000.00 for conservation.

Tegan wins the Longman Award!

Last Friday night’s annual Longman Awards was attended by a record 405 locals.
The crowd packed into Caboolture Memorial Hall, where Federal MP for Longman Wyatt Roy honoured 65 finalists before presenting the seven category winners with medallions.
The divisions were: Seniors’ Achievement, Sports Achievement, Small Business Achievement, Community Group Achievement, Youth Achievement, Environmental Achievement and Volunteer Achievement
Winners were:

  • Seniors’ Achievement – May Norcott
  • Sports Achievement – Jessica Bayliss
  • Small Business Achievement – Hans Electrical Services
  • Community Group Achievement – Bribie Island SES
  • Youth Achievement – Tegan Lather
  • Environmental Achievement – Warwick Hill

Bongaree’s Tegan Lather, 13, has raised more than $30,000 for Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.
As well, the Youth Achievement winner is involved in a range of conservation projects including Clean Up Australia Day. She is a member of the environmental committee at her school and is currently writing a book and creating a smart phone app to further educate the public on helping injured animals.

The Bribie Island State Emergency Service performed outstandingly during this year’s floods. The team went even further – helping the Cyclone Yasi clean-up in Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Maryborough.
Less visible are their other efforts… such as bringing happiness to children at Camp Quality or controlling traffic at Anzac Day marches.
Mr Roy said the Longman Awards aimed to showcase high achievers who had also demonstrated a propensity to “give back”.
“They are our silent engine-room… often unrecognised heroes to whom we owe so much,” he said.
“This year’s event – supported by hundreds of friends and family members of finalists – was a truly spectacular celebration of our community.”

I spent all afternoon checking every newsagent on Bribie Island, looking for yesterday’s Sunshine Coast Daily. We had heard that Tegan was in it again, so off I went in search.

Then I got home and found it online too!

Wow just got back in from doing some fun volunteering today.  I helped with Land Care.

It was AWESOME

Also I got to hang out with our wonderful friend Trudy.  Trudy is also super nice as she gave me some more goodies for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors FUNdriaser Car Rally.  It is  mystery surprise for the kids….can’t tell you anything more, but on the day it will be secret messages going back and froth and will be Super Cool!

CAR RALLY AUSSIE WORLD

Had so much fun today.  My family and I were upset as our friends couldnt come up to visit us as planned.  So we thought, lets have some FUN.

We have been going around testing out the challenges and the Car Rally route.

Too much FUN.

This year is just going to be bigger and better for sure.  Thanks to some AWESOME sponsors and Challenge destinations.  Couldnt have a great FUNdraiser without you!
